Danny Boyle’s Olympic opening ceremony drummers to perform at Standon

One of the many highlights of the London Olympics opening ceremony was the 1,000-strong band of drummers. We were so impressed by Danny Boyle’s bin hitters that we decided to invite a bunch of them along to march around site and show their stuff, before giving the 100m Men’s Final, which will be shown in our on-site pub The Explorer’s Arms a properly fitting drum-roll introduction.

“The opening ceremony was amazing,” says Alan Excess, veteran drummer of Death & Glory and a member of the Olympic drum troupe. “And the drummers really brought the place to life. All the drummers were volunteers, and a few of us have decided to bring a little bit of that Olympic Magic to Standon Calling.”
